Ach, Mein Bloggen!

Just another anime blog

Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi – 2

I finally found out why this show wins. That reason is Asahina Mikuru, a.k.a Bunnygirl with AK-47. Why? In all the anime I have ever watched, only two moè (that is, unbelievably cute and ultra-shy) characters have struck a chord with me:

#1, and still at the top of the heap, is Shinobu from Love Hina.

Brain…melting…kawaii…overload…*head explodes*

The second is the ever lovable Hinata, from Naruto.

16yr old Hinata makes me wish I was a year younger…

Now, the hierarchy of moè-ness has been disrupted. Mikuru is definitely the prime candidate for omega moè character of the year, nay, EVER. Why? Read on brutha.

Reason #1:

Take the last two picture comments and combine them. Yeah.

Reason #2:

Bouncy cheerleader Mikuru FTW!

Reason #3:

Yes, I know this is from the last post. But it's a bunnysuit. And an AK-47. Win.

Reason #4:

Mi…Mi…MIKURU BEAAAAAAAAAAM!

Reason #5:

The last reason is the omega, from which all reasons are wrought. That look of longing isn't for our male lead. Oh no. It's for the only remaining member of the literary club, a girl by the name of Nagato Yuki. Yes. That's right. The moè-est character this season might be yuri. I ask again: How can this not be win and gold? HOW?!?

Now, lets get a little info on the show itself, rather than more moè eyecandy (did I just say that?).

The odd pose is from a little dance they do in the ED….don't ask, just laugh.

From left to right:
Kyon, our "hero". After he accidentally starts a conversation with the incredibly strange Suzumiya Haruhi, he became curious about her oddities to the point of near obsession. Haruhi eventually convinces him to help her start her club (if by "convince" you mean "forced against his will"). He is credited for "Other Menial Tasks" in the movie durring episode 1.

Nagato Yuki, a first year, like Kyon and Haruhi. Haruhi commandeers the Literary Club's room for her club, and Yuki is then drafted in, as she is the only member of the Literary Club left. She honestly doesn't care one way or another as long as she still gets to read. She played the evil wizard in the movie during the first episode.

Suzumiya Haruhi. As you can guess, she is the main character of the story, and possibly the strangest person in anime history outside of FLCL. Long story short: she has never held a relationship with a boy past the first week (yet has had many, as she doesn't turn them down), she isn't interested in anybody that isn't a alien, time traveler, slider, or esper, and she never stays in a club for more than a day because they're not weird enough. She eventually starts her own club, which has no purpose as of yet. It does have a name though: The SOS Brigade. She plans, writes, and directs "The Adventures of Asahina Mikuru" in episode 1.

Asahina Mikuru, a second year student that was suddenly drafted into the SOS Brigade by Haruhi after she was spotted daydreaming in a classroom, because she is moè moè and has big boobs with a loli face. Seriously, those are the reasons Haruhi gives. She protests her conscription into the SOS Brigade (especially while Haruhi gropes her to prove her chest size), until she spots Yuki, and has a sudden change of heart. Plays Mikuru the Combat Waitress/Bunnygirl in the movie in episode 1. Mi…Mi…MIKURU BEAAAAAAAAAAAM!

The last guy is Koizumi Itsuki, who hasn't shown himself so far, other than his part as himself in "The Adventures of Asahina Mikuru".

I love it when a show comes out of nowhere and makes me want to watch it. In fact, I found I was more excited when the second episode sub came out than I was when the first ep of Simoun was released. This is definitely a keeper.

  2. This is the BEST Anime I have EVER seen! I didn see anything interesting for YEARS & then the AK47 toting bunny mikiru made me curious enough to find the first episode, after episode 2 I became convinced I HAD to see them ALL, AND buy some merchandise, this is an inspired series & I look forward to many years of it if they can just get it broadcast in the US. Sadly, this japan/internet based Anime show is BETTER than most us network TV shows!!!!
