Soul Link 1, Kiba 1

The first fansubs of stuff I'm watching are out of the gate, and it's looking up so far. Hopefully School Rumble S2 ep1 will come out sometime this week, or I'll personally track down the people at Wannabe Fansubs and brandish my whipping whip of whipping and whippingly whip them into going faster.

Kiba – 1

Two groups doing this one so far, and despite orz using mkv for their container (which I prefer) I liked the quality of Kyuuketsuki's better.

The OP fit the series as far as I'm concerned, and told me a lot about what's to come, as I picked this up on a whim. The episode itself was pretty good, although it didn't explain a whole lot. Apparently Zed, the main character, is the local delequent, and after several run-ins with the law, tries to take his sick mother with him and leave the city. He is then attacked by a strange man wielding a glowing red sword, and his mother starts pulling little red balls that explode out of the back of her neck and throws them at the man, whom she says is from "Task". The man calls her a "Shadow Caster", then flees, with Zed's mother hot on his tail. After another run-in with the law, Zed finds himself in front of some kind of portal, where a white winged creature from his dreams appears then quickly vanishes. Zed follows it through the portal and ends up in a grassy plain in between an old man and his apprentice, who were just about to fight someone that looks very similar to the man Zed's mother is fighting. Hopefully there will be more explanation in the next episode, but this does look like a keeper.

Soul Link – 1

This one was a little bit different than what I expected. I thought it was going to be very actiony, but the first ep was mostly character introduction. Other than the fact that the main characters are in some sort of military academy, and that they are training aboard the Hotel space station "Aries", not much else is revealed story wise. It does look like the cadets will be trapped aboard the station somehow along with the civilians (one of which, a small boy, has a typical Japanese fetish for panties. Apparently this kid shows up in all Navel games and the anime based on them.). Here's looking to next week.

As for this week, I am eagerly awaiting the return of School Rumble and Ah! My Goddess, as well as ZEGAPAIN, which looks promising. Inukami has also been brought to my attention, and seems rather funny, which is totally my thing. Don't expect me to blog all 12+ series that I'm watching, but a few might get a post here and there so I can get some thoughts out there.
